Cameroon Wins the African Cup of Nations!

"Les Lions Indomptables" of Cameroon has won the 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations, Gabon 2017 (AFCON 2017) by defeating Egypt 2 - 1. The 31st edition of the CAN 2017 final took place at the Stade de l'Amitié with an estimated crowd of 38,000. Cameroon is now a five time winner of this great African event.

Egyptian  striker Mohamed Elneny scored the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute, giving the Pharaohs a lead at the first half of the game. Egypt dominated that first half as Cameroon couldn't find any solid break to tie the game.

Nevertheless, as the second half of the game progressed, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon found a lifeline from a wonderful goal coming from the 32nd substitution player Nkoulou at the 60th minute to equalize the game. The game would be sealed by a late goal from the 46th minute substitution player Aboubakar at the 89th minute, giving Cameroon its fifth win of the tournament.

Egypt coach Héctor CÚPER final curse remains as his team failed to win the final against Cameroon

Coach Hugo Broos leadership led to the victory of Cameroon, as both goals came from two non-starter players (substituted at the right time and delivering both critical goals for the team). On the other side, Egyptian coach Hector Cuper was unsuccessful at ending his 20-year trophy drought with Egypt. His final curse remains.

Samuel Eto'o was spotted at the VIP section during the game and would certainly be happy of the performance of his country fellow men.

The Competition ends with Cameroon taking the first place with Egypt as the runner up, and Burkina Faso as the second runner up (Third place).
