History was made for Cameroon on Saturday Nov 11 2017 at Bowie State University, Maryland USA when hundreds of guests witnessed the Miss Africa USA Contest which culminated to the Crowning of Corinne Missi as the Queen.
Miss Africa USA Pageant features African women in the United States of America today. The pageant has certainly transcended from a small State pageant launched in Atlanta Georgia in 2005, to one of the most highly anticipated annual community events in the nation.
ATLANTA — 2015 marks the 8th installment of the Miss Nigeria in America Pageant, a cultural event that has been growing in scope and popularity since its launch in 2005. The pageant identifies Nigerian women in the US who exemplify beauty, talent, supremacy and intelligence. It aims to create new role models who through the beauty pageant will serve as ambassadors that will define a new Nigeria, enrich the beauty of the Nigerian Woman, and enhance a new strength, energy and spirit for the advancement of women while positively impacting their communities
Audience at the Miss West Africa International 2014 event, organized by D.Sinatra, witnessed a failed attempt to fix the Miss West Africa crown for Rachel (from Nigeria), a lady close to D.Sinatra Ents recently interviewed on Channels TV. The show heard a mild boo when Rachel was announced as the winner, and shortly after some of the audience walked out on her crowning, the rest witnessed her dethroned by the franchise owners no more than 5 minutes after her crowning. The event took place late December 2014, Delta State.
It came down to the last five finalists (out of 88 contestants) – Miss USA Nia Sanchez, Miss Netherlands Yasmin Yerheijen, Miss Jamaica Kaci Fernell, Miss Colombia Paulina Vega and Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha. The beautiful event, hosted in Florida International University, in the city of Doral, ended with Miss Colombia being crowned as the 2015 Miss Universe.
This year Miss Africa USA Pageant celebrates 10 years of empowering young women as Leaders and Goodwill Ambassadors. It’s a milestone, a history we are very proud of, having mentored over 2000 young women who have gone through the Pageant.
On Saturday, September 21,2013, Ms. Chidera Agude of Corona, California was crowned the 2013 Miss Nigeriain America adding her to a lineage of Nigerian American women who have servedas ambassadors of empowerment for African women in the Diaspora.
