Malaika to host its first official graduation ceremony this July
Over the past 15 years since its founding in 2007, Malaika has grown into a fully-fledged ecosystem that is transforming an entire community in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from the ground up.
African Fashion Comes to Indianapolis for a Cause
On May 19, 2012 Indianapolis will get a taste of African fashion when models take to the catwalk at the Indianapolis Museum of Art for the Taste of Africa Fashion Show, a fundraiser for the Georges Malaika Foundation’s School for Girls in the Congo.
TASTE OF AFRICA FASHION SHOW
THE FIRST ANNUAL Taste of Africa Fashion Show at the Indianapolis Museum of Art on May 19, 2012 will feature Spring collections from Congolese fashion designers, as well as African art and food. The annual event will empower African girls by sponsoring educational programs that teach sewing skills to girls in Africa. This year, the event will benefit The Georges Malaika Foundation’s School for Girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
THE VOSS FOUNDATION AND GMF PARTNER TO CHANGE LIVES BY BUILDING A FRESH WATER WELL
The Voss Foundation has sponsored a well, built by Solutions for Africa, which is a vital part of the GMF school. Thanks to Voss, there is no need for girls to walk for hours to get fresh water, allowing them more time for education and increasing their safety.
