It came down to the last five finalists (out of 88 contestants) - Miss USA Nia Sanchez, Miss Netherlands Yasmin Yerheijen, Miss Jamaica Kaci Fernell, Miss Colombia Paulina Vega and Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha. The beautiful event, hosted in Florida International University, in the city of Doral, ended with Miss Colombia being crowned as the 2015 Miss Universe.
Paulina Vega was born on January 15, 1993 in Barranquilla, Colombia. She is the daughter of cardiologist Rodolfo Vega Llamas and Laura Dieppa, and granddaughter of the legendary tenor Gatsón Vega. She studies business administration at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota. She has been a model since she was just 8 years old.
According to her profile sheet posted on the Miss Universe website, you will be amazed to know that she sleeps with her eyes wide open, which can be confusing (Can you tell when she's dreaming??).
So, Colombia has birthed another beautiful celebrity for the world to envy, such as Shakira and Sofia Vergara. By the way, all three ladies are from Barranquilla, Colombia (a city now on top of my bucket list of places to visit).
Africa was represented by the following countries: Miss Angola Zuleica Wilson, Miss Egypt Lara Debbane, Miss Ethiopia Hiwot Mamo, Miss Gabon Magally Ornellia Nguema, Miss Ghana Abena Appiah, Miss Kenya Gaylyne Ayugi, Miss NIgeria Queen Celestine, Miss South Africa Ziphozakhe Zokufa, and Miss Tanzania Nale Boniface.
Highlight moments of the show: Miss Ukraine answer to the Facebook Comments User question, and the crowd reaction to Miss Jamaica being called out as the fourth runner up. I'm pretty sure these two moments will find themselves on YouTube very soon, so no need to spoil it for you.
