Theme: "Unite and Collaborate, Supporting Partnerships for Progress"

The Festival is ground breaking and the first of its kind in the county. Activities will include; performances by colorful African heritage dance groups, live performances by musicians and comedians, a taste of exotic African cuisine, African fashion show and exhibitions by Arts and Craft vendors. There will be a special 'kids corner' to feature face painting and drumming lessons for children. As an exciting highlight, we will welcome and celebrate African Americans who have traced their ancestry to several African Countries. Prior to the official kickoff, Listar Love Inc will organize a kid's talent competition at 2pm.

This is a special year to celebrate as the continental African community in Montgomery County and the State of Maryland and all the residents of the county and State Congratulate 17 African Nations on their 50th anniversary of independence.

Billed as an outdoor event to attract the vibrant and active community in the Downtown Silver Spring - Ellsworth Street restaurant corridor, the festival is designed to showcase the rich and diverse cultures of several African countries.
Barely three decades ago, continental Africans in our region numbered a few thousands but today our numbers have swelled. As immigrants, we have stood out in our commitment to hard work and family values. This event provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the emerging African community in the region and their contributions to its growth and development.
The Pan African Cultural Festival was born of a dream to utilize our rich culture to enlighten, entertain and foster collaboration within our local communities in keeping with the 2010 Heritage Month theme: Unite and Collaborate: Supporting Partnerships for Progress. "We will leverage our rich cultural diversity as a vehicle to stimulate our youth in developing a sense of duty and shared responsibility in building a progressive, enterprising and spiritually fulfilling community in Montgomery County" States Mr. Ivo Tasong , Chair of the PANAFEST organizing committee and incoming Co-Chair of the Montgomery County African Affairs Advisory Group.
