African creativity is rewriting global fashion norms — and nowhere is this more evident than in the rise of Lagos-based label Iamisigo. Founded by Bubu Ogisi, the brand is making its debut at Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026, following its win of Zalando’s Visionary Award in January 2025. The award includes €50K in funding, €35K for production, plus mentorship and marketing support.
But Iamisigo’s approach isn’t about fast fashion—it’s theatrical, ritualistic, and rooted deeply in tradition. Ogisi crafts haute couture using materials like tree bark and collaborates with artisans across Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa Vogue Business. Her runway shows transcend mere fashion—they are immersive art experiences.
This achievement highlights more than runway success:
-
A triumph for Made in Africa storytelling and sustainable luxury.
-
A powerful example of diaspora innovation triumphing on international stages.
-
A celebration of African craftsmanship and the spirit of cultural resurgence.
Stay tuned—Copenhagen will be the world’s front-row seat to Africa’s finest creativity.
