WANTED: Africans to Build a Better Online Community

People make a Difference when they work TOGETHER.

When I started ADUNAGOW Magzine, my goal was simple: To Change people's perception and stereotypes about Africans and Africa. Being asked if My house ("hut") was on a tree in a forest filled with wild animals all around while attending college in the United States was a motivation to start educating the world about Africa and Africans. That was 15 years ago

Now as a successful professional, it is sad to report that every now and then, I still get to hear statements about Africa that take me back to my college years and make me wonder how long will it really take for the world to know about Africa? You would think with the evolution of technology and communication above all, that people will have a good grasp of what's happening in Africa; but that's not the case. To many, I still have a hut on top of a tree somewhere in Africa.

Then, I realized that the solution to my problem did not just involve educating non-Africans about Africa, but also, building a community of Africans sharing my burdens. Strength resides in number. It will take a community to drive change.

...So, we are reaching out to all Africans out there in the diaspora, whether in Europe, America, Asia, Australia, and even our brothers and sisters still back home in Africa: you can make a difference.

WHAT WE NEED

We need to  join African communities and provide a centralized point online where we can share Africa with the world. A place where we positively discuss our cultures, our struggles, our hopes, and celebrates our successes and progresses. A place that can carry our pride and encourage us to be better and contribute to the African continent development.

PARTICIPATE

First, of all there is a really big difference between audience and community. An audience is one-way. Not interactive. Not social. An audience passively watches or reads. An audience doesn’t participate. Or share with others. We do NOT want an Audience.

On the other hand, a community is a two-way conversation. A living, breathing thing. Extremely interactive. Social. Sure, some people just watch or read, but may also participate and share with their friends. This is our Target.

Imagine a community including over hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs, business owners, marketers, forward-thinkers, etc. plus a healthy blend of sponsors... all fueling the African dream; this is our dream and goal for ADUNAGOW Magazine. And this cannot happen without your participation.

You can change the first step today: register, then be ready for the next phase.
