Serge Ibaka Moving to Toronto

Serge Ibaka

The Orlando Magic have finally agreed to trade their recently acquired power forward Serge Ibaka to the Toronto Raptors, for Terrence Ross and the 2017 first-round pick. Ibaka has been playing for the Magic since the off season after leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder on a trade with Victor Olapido and Domantas Sabonis.

We're not sure what would have caused the Orlando Magic to trade such a great player with lots of experience, playing in Finals along Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. It could have been a business move, but one thing for sure, Ibaka will be well received at Toronto, a diversified city, full of Africans that are ready to support him as he brings his basketball skills under the No.9 jersey (power forward).

Serge Ibaka was born in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo and is the third-youngest of 18 children. He comes from a family rooted in the Basketball sport: his mother and father were both basketball players. Serge's father played at the Republic of Congo with the Congolese national team, while his mother played for the Democratic Republic of Congo. His basketball devotion started at a very young age with his first club called Avenir du Rail.

Ibaka speaks four languages: Lingala (spoken mainly in Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Angola), French (the official language of Congo), English and Spanish.

DID YOU KNOW? Ibaka's younger brother Igor currently plays basketball for Midwestern State University.
