Torrance, CA – September 21,2013 On Saturday, September 21,2013, Ms. Chidera Agude of Corona, California was crowned the 2013 Miss Nigeriain America adding her to a lineage of Nigerian American women who have servedas ambassadors of empowerment for African women in the Diaspora. The event was hosted by Ochuwa Oghie (Grey’s Anatomy, Touch, Just Jordan, Take Me ToThe PoorHouse).
Chidera Agude holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science from California State University, East Bay and is currently pursuing adual master’s degree in international relations and Fashion. With her degree in Political Science, she is determined to fulfill her dream as an international fashion entrepreneur and merge lines of philanthropy and self-fulfillmentwithin Nigeria. She will continue theMNIA Education Initiative – Project Women’s Education (Project WE) and will alsowork on her platform of becoming a voice for women who have been broken by abuse (domestic and/or verbal).

The Miss Nigeria in America Beauty Pageant identifiesNigerian women in the US who exemplify beauty, talent, supremacy andintelligence. It aims to create new role models who through the beauty pageantwill serve as ambassadors that will define a new Nigeria, enrich the beauty ofthe Nigerian Woman and enhance a new strength, energy and spirit for theadvancement of women while positively impacting their communities.
