An Historical Event in the United States

U.S. President Barack Obama

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT that in 2008 the United States of America will be under the leadership of a black man? Americans have set a new standard for the whole world to follow. Senator Barack Obama will be sworn into office on January 20, 2009 as the 44th President of the United States of America - the first Black president.

This election has brought hope and a new direction for all Americans, especially African Americans. For many, it is an eye opening about the USA, a nation where freedom and opportunity truly exists for all, not only for a selected group. We’re hoping that this historical moment that took place on November 4th will bring more than equality among races, but also unity and healing among all Americans and throughout the world. At the end of the day, we shall always stand as one nation, under God’s authority.

Americans have regained their pride: a nation of people that values equality, freedom, and rights. All around the globe, citizens of other nations have come to realize that there is hope for them as well - maybe, just maybe one day, they would also be able to taste what makes America so special.

This election impacts not only the USA, but the entire globe. We are expecting peace and unity among men all across the globe - at least tolerance of our differences - and stability in the currently fragile world economy.

For this "Change" to work, it would require the participation of everyone. It’s up to us to work hard on fixing our economy, our living conditions, and our mentality. One man alone cannot do it all. We must strive for excellence, peace, communication, and tolerance in everything we do.

My prayer is that many African nation leaders would take this opportunity to look at themselves and seek what America has acheived: a nation where opportunity is given to all and where freedom reigns; a nation where the government is of the people, by the people and for the people.

Congratulations to Americans all around the globe. Dream truly can come true when you believe.
